1st Birthday Party Ideas For Girls

By | October 27, 2012

There are a variety of first birthday party ideas for girls which can be easily employed for your baby girl. Some examples of idea include the teddy bear themed party, a wish-upon-a-star themed party, or even a pink-themed party.

A first birthday party is a special time for a baby girl and the people who love her, so you want to make it a day to remember. Since 1-year-olds have short attention spans, activities should be short and uncomplicated, and the foods served should be appropriate for that age group.

A teddy bear themed party is easy to decorate since most 1-year-olds have many teddy bears. Placing balloons in bright primary colours such as blue, red and yellow around the room and having teddy bears sitting nearby will take care of decorations. For invitations, gather up a pile of teddy bears and place them on a couch or floor. Nestle your child into the middle of the pile and snap a picture or two. Use prints of this picture as an invitation by writing the party information on the back. For food, use bear shaped cookie cutters to make sandwiches and pieces of pizza into bears.

The first birthday is a great time to get the baby’s first professional portrait taken. Babies can sit with ease at this age, and they usually smile readily as well. For a whimsical and beautiful touch, have your daughter’s picture taken in a frothy tutu, or while wearing a pair of fairy wings. Many photographers already have such props in their studios. Call ahead of time to ask what types of props the photographer has for baby girls, and whether or not you can bring your own items, such as a favourite stuffed animal.

A pink cupcake theme is good for little girls first birthday and is easy to accomplish. Free clip art can be found on the Internet and used to make invitations by printing out a picture of a pink cupcake and writing the party details on the back. Instead of a cake, create a tower of pink cupcakes and put a candle in the top one for the birthday girl, or make a cake that looks like a large cupcake. Use pink and brown balloons, streamers and tablecloths to decorate the party area.

A wish-upon-a-star themed party will work well for either a girl or a boy. On the invitations, ask adult guests to write down a wish that they have for your child’s future and bring it to the party with them. These wishes can be read at the party and can also be put in a scrapbook for your child to read when she is older. Make the cake by using a star shaped pan to bake it, and frost it with any colour you prefer. Decorate using stars of all shapes and sizes, including shooting stars. Free clip art sites will have many star pictures and posters can be found as well. You can paint a plain blue tablecloth with stars using stencils. Use white acrylic paint to create the stars for the party.
